So I'm driving along minding my own business, enjoying the beautiful sunshine on my way into work when I hear the latest ad from Barry's campaign. You know the one about how John McCain doesn't use email blah blah blah. Here is the ad:

Do I take this as a slam on McCain?

No.

One word comes to mind when I hear this ad.

Desperate.

That is how I took the ad, not as a slam against McCain but as a desperate hail mary response to the drop in polls that Barry Obama has taken recently.

Why didn't I take it as a slam on McCain? Why doesn't it bother me that he can't type?

Well, go back a few decades to his prisoner of war time and you might understand. When you are tortured on a daily basis for 5 or 6 years, shoulders dislocated again and again, fingers broken, beaten with pipes and given medical treatment that would, in a normal society, get the doctor thrown in jail for malpractice, you can see why maybe he doesn't have the full use of his arms. And maybe, just maybe, using a computer or typing is extremely difficult, or dare I say impossible, for him. He can't even raise his arms above his shoulders!

As Jonah Goldberg notes in his blog post, "even the most ardent supporter of Barry, Jacob Weisberg of Slate, noted in 2000:

"At 63, he is the oldest of the bunch and because of his war injuries, he is limited in his ability to wield a keyboard."

The article by Weisberg notes how McCain is actually quite techologically literate, quite the opposite impression you get from the latest ad from Barry's campaign.

Nicely done Barry.

Do some homework next time.

Morons, Chapter One

Joy Behar, in all her wisdom, complaining about Palin because:

"she is mean to animals. What about the polar bear? And she is for hunting wolves from helicopters. I mean this is stuff that people need to hear about!"

I think you are right Joy, people should know that she approved good game management by thinning the population of wolves in certain areas.

They should also know that she is right about the polar bears, the population of which is increasing, not decreasing, in various areas and the news of their demise is premature. Listing them now is a mistake. The proof is not conclusive and the statistics are being manipulated depending on the side of the argument.

Good judgement such as Governor Palin's should be publicized! Thanks Joy!

Socialism, bleh!

I listen to a lot of talk radio, all kinds, and invariably you hear someone throw out the words "Socialist", "Marxist" and "Communist", and the corresponding "isms". At times, they also seem to use them interchangably but I wondered, are they really that similar that one means the other? I didn't think so but I figured that if I had the question, others must also so this is my opportunity to educate and clear the air. Turns out they are very similar.

Socialism, at it's basic form (there are many variants), calls for public versus private ownership of property and natural resources. According to this view, people work and live in cooperation with one another and since they play a part in everything produced, why shouldn't they share in it? So if you are a "Socialist" you believe that "the people" should own or at a minimum control property for the benefit of "the people".

So how does this relate to Communism?

According to Karl Marx, Socialism is "an interim step between Capitalism and Communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles." Basically what he is saying is that when socialism is excessive misguided or unregulated socialism can turn into communism. Socialism needs to have strong accountability, responsibility, and a check and balance system in order to be effective.

So socialism is one step towards communism from capitalism. The difference between the two boils down to this; in socialism you give according to your ability and you receive based on what you have contributed. In communism, you give according to your ability but distribution is not based on what you have done, but what your needs are.

Isn't NOW supposed to support ALL women?

If you are a liberal pro-choice Obama supporter then the answer is yes!

If you are conservative pro-life then I'm sorry, they aren't for you.

You would think an organization, that represents itself to support all women, would be overjoyed when a woman is nominated for the 2nd highest office in the land. Or is serving this country as it's Secretary of State.

Not a chance.

According to NOW PAC Chair Kim Gandy, they only support "women's righs" not women in general. Seems odd they even have a PAC since one of the tenents in their organizational document says they aren' t political:

The mission statement for NOW in 1966 is that they will

"NOW WILL HOLD ITSELF INDEPENDENT OF ANY POLITICAL PARTY in order to mobilize the political power of all women and men intent on our goals."

The "independent of any political party" statement is hilarious. Of course they are a liberal organization as they have proven many times in support of candidates on the democratic ticket.

This is perfect example of an organization that has a title implying one thing and meaning another. Similar to the supposed gun rights group "Americans for Gun Safety". They are nothing more than a gun control group, as exposed in this article.

Careful about what you believe in and/or support.

Is this really their best shot? really?

I read an open letter from Ann Kilkenny, who is "friends" with Sarah Palin.

Not sure I'd classify her as friends after reading that email but I digress.

The email is anything but friendly, full of innuendo's and small town political hate. I've seen this all before in city and county governments that I have been involved in as a citizen and also an employee. Nothing in this email is any different.

Sour grapes.

Sling that mud Dems!! Why did you wait so long?

First of, let me tell you I was overjoyed to have to add the category "Palin" to my blog. I think this is the best choice John McCain could have made, and frankly I'm shocked he made it! Shocked and awed he had such foresight, perhaps there is hope for him afterall?

But of course, over the last few days, numerous posts and articles about Palin have come out, mudslinging sinking to new lows. Here are several I have seen so far and my thoughts:

1. She didn't take care of her 5th baby during the pregnancy causing it to have Downs Syndrome.

What can you say to this? This is certainly below the belt and uncalled for but I wasn't shocked that it was thrown out there. The democrats have a history, in my opinion, of being negative and abusive towards anyone that isn't on "their" side. Lefty and Democratic shill Alan Colmes on his webstite "Liberaland" posted then removed an article with his doubts as to the quality of her pre-natal care, all you get now is an error message when try to view it. Luckily this was caught and reported on many sites that also have screen shots to prove it existed. Here is my take, God bless her for keeping the baby and not aborting, it just shows her strength of character and how for her, principles are not just a talking point.

Susan Reimer of the Baltimore Sun thinks she is being pandered to and that this selection was all a ploy to attract evangelicals.

Idiot.

2. Her 5th child isn't even hers, her daughter gave birth and she just adopted it;

There are photo's (here is one) of a pregnant Governor Palin, look it up. There are also witness accounts that state they saw her and she was obviously pregnant. By mentioning this accusations we give them some credence, validate them, but I mention some of these like this one to show how ridiculously low they are willing to go, as is outlined in this article.

3. She has no experience.

Laughable to say the least. Redstate did an admirable job showing a side by side comparison of Palin and Hussein. Clearly Palin has more real world experience, not to mention government experience against someone that has spent the last two years campaigning and has nothing to show for his time in the Senate. I guess the libs are going after her experience issue because they certainly cant attack McCain on that front. Funny they are focusing on the running mate and not McCain. Oh and they still scream that experience isn't an issue, unless of course we are talking about running mates.

Desperation.

4. McCain only did it to sway the Hilary undecideds;

Possible I suppose, he needs to get the votes to get into office. But that doesn't matter to me, what matters to me is that he made a great choice in Palin for his running mate. End of story.

Just when I thought I was done with this post...

Today I read about US Weekly's cover story, a hit job on Palin that not so surprisingly is glowing when it talks about Hussein Obama

And I'm sure more will come out as the days, weeks and months go by leading up to the election.

Now that I have had a few days to think about it, perhaps these mudslinging agents of the libs are going to help not hurt, if they alienate enough people and get them to vote for McCain.

Obama is the candidate for hope and change? Which candidate picked the old guard and which one picked the outsider, willing to change things? Actions speak louder than words Hussein.
